The Challenge
A book cover for a major publisher has to work at thumbnail scale on Amazon, full size on a shelf, and everywhere in between. For a book built around Elias Weiss Friedman's photography and The Dogist's established visual identity, the design had to honor the existing aesthetic while creating something that felt like a legitimate publishing event, not just branded merchandise.
My Role
I art directed and designed the full package: dust cover, hardcover, and interior chapter design. The hardcover beneath the jacket was designed as a deliberate UGC moment, giving readers something worth photographing and sharing. The interior text treatment established a consistent visual language carried throughout the book. The book reached number two on the New York Times Bestseller List.
